Mylan Laboratories Limited and its subsidiaries, the ABA Group and the American Pharmaceutical Association, today (February 24, 2005) announced that it has received final approval from the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to market a formulation of Bactrim DS for the treatment of urinary tract infections (UTIs). Bactrim DS is a synthetic penicillin sulfonamide, a class of macrolide antibiotics that have recently been marketed in the United States for the treatment of a variety of bacterial infections. The FDA’s approval is subject to a final approval process for the product by the U. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) which is scheduled for November 30, 2005. For the full U. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval, the company will submit a submission for approval to the FDA on or before November 30, 2005, or on or before November 30, 2005.
